Carolyn Conkling

Inducted: Georgetown University, 1980

Carolyn S. Weber Conkling joined the Alpha Sigma Nu Board of Directors in October 2009. Most recently as Special Counsel with the prestigious law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, Carolyn has over twenty years of experience advising businesses on developing and implementing environmental initiatives, negotiating environmental issues in mergers and acquisitions and other types of transactions, and resolving claims and enforcement actions.

Carolyn is also committed to promoting the professional development of attorneys and business executives and has served as a mentor to associates and conducted legal and environmental compliance training. She is a member of the Environmental Law Institute, a non-partisan, non-profit research and educational organization dedicated to strengthening environmental protection through laws and governance worldwide, and the Women's Council on Energy and the Environment.

Carolyn received her B.S. in Languages from Georgetown University in 1980 and her J.D. with honors from Georgetown University Law Center in 1989. As an undergraduate, Carolyn was President of the Dahlgren Chapel Choir, Secretary of the School of Languages and Linguistics Academic Council, and recipient of several honors and awards. Following graduation in 1980, Carolyn was a government relations representative for various aviation and other commercial interests. Carolyn and her husband Robert are avid supporters of the Georgetown University men's basketball team. The Conklings divide their time between Arlington, Virginia, where they enjoy wine-tasting, museums, and sporting events, and Annapolis, Maryland where they enjoy boating and gardening and are members of the historic St. Mary's parish.
