During the academic year 2009-2010, Father Jim Walsh, SJ of the Georgetown Theology Department, taught at "Education City" in the capital city of Doha, Qatar. Georgetown's School of Foreigh Service was one of six American universities invited to share their expertise in this project.

Father Walsh's talk will focus on Georgetown's presence in Qatar and what he has learned from his year of living in the heart of the Islamic and Arab world.

The Alpha Sigma Nu Alumni Club of Washington D.C. encourages our alumni's lifelong commitment to the ΑΣΝ values of scholarship, loyalty, and service and the ideals of Jesuit education and provides concrete opportunities to nurture that commitment:

  • Programs designed to foster excellence in the intellectual arena and growth in Ignatian spirituality
  • Opportunities to give to the community around us through service projects
  • Social contacts with other ΑΣΝ Alumni hailing from Jesuit universities across the country, a very diverse mixture of professionals striving to live the values of scholarship, loyalty, and service.

The Washington Club has featured:

  • Rev. William Byron, S.J. on Jesuit Saturdays: Sharing the Ignatian Spirit With Lay Colleagues and Friends
  • Dolores R. Leckey, senior fellow at the Woodstock Theological Center on “The ABC's of Leadership”
  • Chris Lowney, national speaker and author of Heroic Leadership: Best Practices from a 450-Year-Old Company that Changed the World and A Vanished World
  • Rev. Thomas J. Reese, SJ, former editor of America Magazine on “Faithful Citizenship”

The Club has adopted the Washington Jesuit Academy, a NativityMiguel Network school as its service partner. The Club offered a tour of the school, and has collected gift cards from book stores for the school.
