Seelos Grants

We know that our members are campus leaders, and we look to them to be engaged, contributing members of our Chapters.  We have heard from some Chapter leaders about how inspiring and productive the Ignatian-focused leadership conferences are and how students network with other university leaders at these conferences. However, we also know that our universities can only fund a certain number of students to attend.

When a member donor approached us for a funding idea, we knew we wanted to help our student members attend these conferences.  Thanks to funding from the Blessed Francis X. Seelos, C.Ss.R, Fund, Alpha Sigma Nu administers the Seelos Grant, founded to promote Ignatian-inspired student leadership.

The Seelos Grants remove financial barriers to student AΣN members who wish to participate in these Ignatian leadership programs. See the overview and application for more information. See more information about international travel here.

The conference provides student leaders with collaborative opportunities to develop ideas, explore issues, and build stronger leadership skills to better serve their institutions in the Jesuit tradition. NJSLC is comprised of workshops, group discussions, social programming, a day of service, and opening and closing banquets. Learn more about NJSLC here.

Ignatian Justice Summit for College Students

July 23-26, 2024

Take part in 4 days of networking; sharing goals, challenges, and best practices; sharpening organizing/advocacy skills; praying and learning about the Ignatian call to work for justice; and committing to taking coordinated, collaborative action returning to campus. The Summit will feature social justice organizers and movement leaders whose work is grounded in Ignatian thought. Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice

October 26-28, 2024

Learn, pray, and advocate for justice at the largest annual Catholic social justice gathering in the United States. The Teach-In is a place for members of the Ignatian family (Jesuit institutions and larger church) to be empowered, re-energized, inspired, challenged, and supported by a community that sees faith and justice integrally linked. Now in its 26th year, the Teach-In has a rich history rooted in honoring the Jesuits and their companions who were martyred in El Salvador in 1989. Read reflections from last year's participants here.  Visit the Ignatian Solidariy Network website to learn more about the 2024 Teach-in here.

Other: Submit the Seelos application for another Jesuit- and/or Ignatian-sponsored conference or program that deepens and develops your understanding of leadership in the Ignatian tradition and social justice in the world.
