Alpha Sigma Nu: Honoring excellence in Jesuit education.

The Association of Jesuit Colleges and University and Alpha Sigma Nu proudly announce the 2009 Alpha Sigma Nu Book Award winners in the category of "The Sciences." Twenty-four entries from 12 Jesuit institutions were submitted.

The category of “The Sciences” is divided into four disciplines: social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics and computer sciences, and health sciences.  The winner of each discipline receives $1,000 and a commemorative plaque.

The Alpha Sigma Nu Book Awards are open to all faculty and administrators, including emeritus faculty and administrators, who have published a book in the three years immediately prior to the year of the discipline. The books are judged by volunteer faculty members on the basis of scholarship, significance of topic to scholars across several disciplines, authority in interpretation, objectivity, presentation, and style. All entries are due by March 1 of the category year and awards are announced October 1.

The 2010 Competition will be in the category of "Professional Studies" in which there will be four awards of $1,000 each.  Application forms and details will be posted soon.
