William M. Ferraro, PhD (Georgetown `81)
As far as scholarship goes, Alpha Sigma Nu members are cream of the crop. We have thousands of members, working at universities around the world, doing great research and over 2,000 new inductees each year who are at the top of their class. We pride ourselves on the excellence in scholarship that defines Alpha Sigma Nu membership. William M. Ferraro, PhD (Georgetown `81) is one member who is continuing his scholarly excellence beyond his undergraduate and graduate years. As scholarship goes, Dr. Ferraro's work is extraordinary, interesting, and important. An associate professor at the University of Virginia, Dr. Ferraro teaches American Studies and is the associate editor of the The Papers of George Washington.
The Papers of George Washington is a compilation of letters written to and by George Washington. The more than 135,000 documents fill approximately 90 volumes. These correspondence shed light on all American Studies scholarship and are especially enlightening for the study of the early years of the United States. Handling 200-250 year old documents from the nation's first president is both fascinating and important work. William Ferraro, PhD, has certainly placed the Alpha Sigma Nu tenet of scholarship at the forefront of his career and work.
