AΣN Book Awards

The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) and Alpha Sigma Nu established the Alpha Sigma Nu Book Awards in 1979 to recognize outstanding publishing contributions and achievements by faculty and administrators of the 27 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States.  It then expanded to include the two Jesuit theologates, and five Jesuit institutions in Canada, Spain, Peru and Korea.  The awards honored authors and editors of books published in the humanities, professional studies, and the sciences.  After careful consideration, the AΣN Board of Directors decided in 2018 to end the Alpha Sigma Nu Book Awards. The 2019 40th anniversary competition was the last for the Book Awards.  Thank you to the many participants over the years.

Since 1979, 138 books have received the honor, including works from faculty of 22 Jesuit institutions.  Alpha Sigma Nu is proud to have lent its name to the only book award honoring scholarly writing exclusively at Jesuit universities.
