BOSTON, MA —The Alpha Sigma Nu chapter at Boston College gathered on a rainy Sunday, March 22, to celebrate its 2026 Induction Ceremony, bringing together university leaders, inductees, families, and friends for an afternoon recognizing academic excellence, leadership, and service. This year’s event held particular significance as Rev. William P. Leahy, S.J., President of Boston College, was honored with the Alpha Sigma Nu Presidential Partnership Award in recognition of his three decades of commitment to the university and stewarding the mission.

For thirty years, Fr. Leahy has played a defining role in shaping Boston College’s identity as a Jesuit, Catholic institution dedicated to forming students who seek truth and act with purpose. His longstanding engagement with Alpha Sigma Nu reflects his belief in the value of cultivating leaders grounded in intellectual depth, ethical discernment, and service to others. Deans from across the colleges joined this year’s inductees in celebrating both the new membersand Fr. Leahy’s exceptional influence on the chapter and institution.

“As shared in my remarks, as we inducted a new class of Alpha Sigma Nu members from Boston College’s chapter, we were also marking a sacred threshold. This was the final Alpha Sigma Nu induction of his presidency, the last time that Father Leahy was to preside over this ceremony as president, but it is not an ending. It is a continuation of a legacy that will live on in the students he has mentored, the programs he has built, the mission he has stewarded, and the countless lives transformed by his faithful service,” said Clara Dwyer, Executive Director of Alpha Sigma Nu. “Fr. Leahy’s leadership has continually uplifted the Jesuit, Catholic mission that guides both Boston College and Alpha Sigma Nu. His example reminds students—and all members—that academic excellence finds its fullest meaning when shaped by reflection, integrity, and a commitment to the common good.”

The ceremony closed with a blessing for the inductees as they join a global network of scholars dedicated to living out the values at the heart of Jesuit education.
