ROME, Italy — Alpha Sigma Nu, the international honor society of Jesuit colleges and universities, is proud to announce the formal induction of the Very Reverend Arturo Sosa, S.J., Superior General of the Society of Jesus. The setting of the Jesuit Curia, the global headquarters of the Society of Jesus in Rome, also offered time for Executive Director, Clara Dwyer, along with members of the Alpha Sigma Nu Board of Directors, to share more about the connection between Alpha Sigma Nu and the global work of the Society of Jesus.

Dwyer states, “It was an honor to induct Father General Sosa into Alpha Sigma Nu. In our conversation, Fr. Sosa listened intently about the work that Alpha Sigma Nu does to connect all of our members, past and present, to the Society of Jesus and the Jesuit mission. He asked thoughtful questions and was very encouraging of this honor that recognizes more than academic excellence but also a lifelong development of one’s faith and commitment to service. It is with Fr. Sosa’s blessing and invitation that we urge our members to stay connected to the Society of Jesus through Alpha Sigma Nu and to serve as ambassadors of the Jesuit mission.”

This milestone serves as an inspirational link between the hallmark of academic excellence of Jesuit education and the global apostolic mission. Alpha Sigma Nu invites its young alumni members to remain engaged as leaders of the Jesuit mission through its one-of-a-kind mentor program connecting alumni across Jesuit colleges and universities, by applying to participate as leaders via the Young Alumni Advisory Council, and seeking grant support to attend a conference hosted by the Society of Jesus such as the upcoming World Union of Jesuit Alumni assembly in Yogyakarta, Indonesia this July 2026.

In addition to young alumni opportunities, Alpha Sigma Nu also awards over 40 scholarships for student members annually including the Sargent Family Scholarship for first-generation college juniors and offers ongoing programming and opportunities for members at every stage of life.
