Announcing the 2025-2026 Chapter of the Year Award Winners
Alpha Sigma Nu is proud to announce the 2025-2026 Chapter of the Year award winners: Fairfield University, Loyola University Chicago, and Loyola University Maryland.
The Chapter of the Year award honors student chapters that exemplify meaningful engagement and bring the AΣN tenets of scholarship, loyalty, and service to life on their campuses. Special consideration is given to chapters that strengthen campus presence, elevate the induction experience, expand programming, improve chapter processes, and create new opportunities for members to remain connected to the Alpha Sigma Nu mission.
Across Alpha Sigma Nu’s member institutions, chapters continue to promote Jesuit values through intellectual engagement, service, community-building, collaboration with campus partners, and leadership rooted in purpose. This year’s winning chapters stood out for their thoughtful programming, strong member participation, and intentional efforts to deepen understanding of Alpha Sigma Nu within their university communities.
Each winning chapter receives a framed certificate and a financial contribution to support chapter programming in the next academic year. The Chapter of the Year award winners will also be featured in the annual Alpha Sigma Nu Magazine.
AΣN applauds all chapters for their dedication, creativity, and leadership this year, and proudly congratulates Fairfield University, Loyola University Chicago, and Loyola University Maryland on this well-deserved recognition.
Fairfield University
Fairfield University’s chapter had an exceptional year marked by expanded programming, increased campus visibility, and strong member participation. The chapter hosted seven programs, including fall and spring service initiatives, an AΣN Lecture, tabling events, and gatherings that strengthened community across campus. Members assembled snack bags for children facing food insecurity, created holiday cards for patients at Bridgeport Hospital, prepared hygiene kits for families supported by Malta House, and collaborated with Fairfield Bellarmine students and the Build-A-House Program to broaden participation and deepen service.
The chapter also made meaningful strides in raising Alpha Sigma Nu’s profile at Fairfield. Through campus-wide announcements, Instagram, targeted poster campaigns, and tabling in the busy campus center, student leaders helped increase awareness, applications, and interest in officer roles. The induction ceremony, held during Alumni & Family Weekend at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, was elevated by the participation and remarks of Fairfield’s President, Dr. Mark Nemec, PhD and Provost, Dr. Christine Siegel, PhD. Moving the ceremony to Friday evening helped position it as an academic highlight of the weekend and further strengthened its visibility across the campus community. The chapter also hosted a missioning ceremony to welcome new members and send off graduating seniors, while events held with the Jesuit community created meaningful opportunities for reflection, connection, and shared purpose. Fairfield’s chapter exemplifies how thoughtful leadership, intentional outreach, and consistent service can bring Alpha Sigma Nu’s values to life across a university community.

Loyola University Chicago
Loyola University Chicago’s chapter focused this year on strengthening communication, expanding outreach, and helping both current and prospective members better understand the lifelong value of Alpha Sigma Nu membership. Student leaders improved visibility across campus through information tables held on Loyola’s Chicago campuses, timed intentionally to follow the invitation process for nominated students. These sessions gave students the opportunity to meet current officers, ask questions, and learn more about Alpha Sigma Nu’s purpose, values, and application process. The chapter also launched a monthly newsletter, creating a new resource for sharing AΣN opportunities, campus programs, service events, reflections from scholars and Jesuits, and other opportunities connected to Loyola’s Jesuit identity.
The chapter also created meaningful opportunities for connection among students, alumni, and the Jesuit community. In April, Loyola Chicago hosted a gathering that served as both a community-building event for current members and an information session for nominated students. The event welcomed Chicago-area alumni, who reflected on the value of lifelong Alpha Sigma Nu membership, and included a presentation on Jesuit values from a member of Loyola’s Jesuit community. The induction ceremony was a meaningful celebration of scholarship, loyalty, and service, featuring keynote speaker Clement V. Martin, President of Christ the King Jesuit College Prep in Chicago. With support from the Office of the Provost’s events team, continued collaboration with Mission Integration, and renewed outreach to the Jesuit community, Loyola University Chicago’s chapter demonstrated thoughtful growth and a strong commitment to deepening Alpha Sigma Nu’s presence and purpose on campus.

Loyola University Maryland
Loyola University Maryland’s chapter demonstrated strong student leadership, expanded campus engagement, and a clear commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for member participation. The chapter set out to help students better understand the purpose of Alpha Sigma Nu and to build a more active, connected presence on campus. Student leaders organized the chapter around five committees — Service, Academics, Mission Week, Social, and Communications — giving members greater ownership of programming and encouraging broader involvement throughout the year. These efforts also contributed to one of the strongest applicant pools the chapter has seen in recent years.
The chapter hosted a wide range of programs that reflected Alpha Sigma Nu’s commitment to learning, community, and service. Events included an AΣN Introduction Meeting, an AΣN Christmas Party with Loyola Jesuits, Mission Week programming, a senior Wine & Cheese event with Jesuits and faculty, and a collaborative York Road Community Day with Omicron Delta Kappa and Loyola’s Center for Community, Service, and Justice. Members created care packages for people in the local community facing barriers to food, water, and shelter, wrote handwritten letters of gratitude to campus staff, and participated in beautification projects in the York Road community. The chapter also increased visibility through tabling, Instagram, posters, flyers, e-vites, and collaboration with Loyola Maryland’s official Instagram account. Held in Alumni Memorial Chapel, the induction ceremony included active participation from all executive board members, who offered remarks on scholarship, loyalty, service, and commitment. Through committee leadership, campus collaboration, visible member pride, and values-driven programming, Loyola University Maryland’s chapter demonstrated how student-led initiative can strengthen Alpha Sigma Nu’s presence and impact across campus.
