Samaritan House Day of Service

Service collection for Samaritan House:  Razors, Deodorant, Men’s underwear, Men’s Large and X Large t-shirts, Women’s underwear, or Women’s socks

Location: Samaritan House, 2301 Lawrence Street, Denver, CO 80205.

Date: Saturday, March 10, 2018.  Hours range from 5 am to 8 PM.  We are seeking 50-55 volunteers to help throughout the day for this event.

The Greater Denver Alumni Club of Alpha Sigma Nu is partnering with Samaritan House to create a Day of Service. ASN members, along with their friends and family, are invited to help on Saturday, March 10, 2018, by giving some time to the clients of Samaritan House. Samaritan House serves men, women, and children facing homelessness to help them find a path to self-sufficiency.  They have come up with a variety of service opportunities, starting first thing in the morning and going into the evening.  Volunteers can sign up for just one time slot or several, it is entirely up to you. The minimum age to volunteer is 13 (must be accompanied by a parent/guardian). Life Reimagined-Discovering Your New Life Possibilities with Karen Metzger Adducci

Date: Thursday, April 19, 2018. 6:30-8:30 PM

Is it time for new personal solutions and new personal tools?  Is it time to reimagine your life’s possibilities?  “What’s Next?”  This program is based on the book Life Reimagined to help all of us answer this question when we are faced with a life transition.

Karen Metzger Adducci is a Career Development Specialist in the Center for Career and Professional Development at Regis University.  Although she has worked as a Career Counselor and an Employer Relations Developer in the Career Center for over 10 years, she has worked at Regis University for 21 years.  She received both her Bachelors and Masters degrees here too.  Karen was inducted in Alpha Sigma Nu in 2003 and is the founder of the ASN Alumni Club.  “I am very proud to say that one of the biggest honors is becoming a member in ASN and recognizing the need for alumni to continue to live the lifelong commitment of Jesuit values.  I’m thrilled to see how this club has developed over the years and how it has provided the opportunities to share with each other the expression of that commitment.”

Everyone uses social media these days, but do you know the key differences in how you present yourself in a personal setting (to friends and family), versus how you can and should present yourself to business colleagues? If you want to become a professional branding rock star, this session is for you!  Learn how to create a strategic plan for branding yourself; determine which social media platforms are most appropriate for promoting your professional and academic accomplishments; and learn how to put your brand strategy into action.  Presenter Lisa Moore is a marketing leader with 15+ years’ experience in increasing brand exposure and revenue.  She is Founder and President of Lumen Marketing & Communications.

Tennyson Center for Children Day of Service

Service collection of gift cards from Amazon, Target, Kohl's, Walmart, King Soopers, Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Payless Shoes, and any gas gift card, and children’s socks for Tennyson Center for Children

Location:  2950 Tennyson Street, Denver, CO 80212

Date:  Saturday, September 8, 2018.  Hours 11 – 5.  We are seeking 20-30 volunteers for this event.

Tennyson Center for Children is dedicated to helping children who have experienced severe abuse, neglect, and/or trauma so they can bravely, and safely, change their life’s story.  The primary goal of all TCC programs is to reintegrate the children back into safe families, supportive schools, and vibrant communities.  This Day of Service will include hosting lunch (a barbecue, weather permitting) and playing board games with the kids, as well as help with outside maintenance work (i.e. raking leaves, pulling weeds, etc.) Volunteers can come for part or all, or part of the day, as your schedule allows.  We will send additional information to volunteers prior to the event, including a link to sign up.

Service Project: Fr. Woody Christmas Party for the Poor                                                                                                                                             

Location: Downtown Denver Sheraton, 1550 Court Pl., Denver, CO

Date: Sunday, December XX, 2018.  8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Space is limited to 14-16 ASN volunteers.   (Wrap dates TBD, and are open to all. To sign up for wrap party(s) call Dr. Victoria McCabe at 303-458-3572.)

Each year we support this beautiful event feeding and giving gifts to over 4,000 poor in Denver. We will be hosting a room helping Santa and his elves. All volunteers must be 16 years of age per hotel policy. We hope you will join us!
