Selection & Induction

Shaking hands at Loyola Andalucia induction

One of the essential functions of a Chapter is to select and induct new members into the honor society each academic year.  The selection process ensures that the most qualified and worthy individuals are chosen to receive the honor of membership, the highest honor that can be bestowed to a student at a Jesuit university.  The induction ceremony is the first experience of Alpha Sigma Nu for new members and must, therefore, be a representation of the Society's prestige, history, tenets, and unique position as the Jesuit honor society.  Each ceremony includes the conferral of membership certificate and pin or pendant to inductees, as well as the communal reciting of the AΣN pledge by all members present, new and old.

While the nomination and selection of new members and induction ceremony planning can be daunting, Alpha Sigma Nu has resources to help guide you through the process.  You can download timelines, checklists, read how other Chapters run the selection process, find induction ceremony ideas, and download the Ritual of Induction, which includes a baseline script and order of ceremonies for the induction itself.
