Two Jesuit Universities named among “Top 50 Green Colleges”

Two of our member universities, Loyola University Chicago and Santa Clara University, made the Princeton Review's Top 50 Green Colleges list this year.

According to the Princeton Review, "The schools that made our Top 50 Green Colleges list share superb sustainability practices, a strong foundation in sustainability education, and a healthy quality of life for students on campus."

Santa Clara was recognized for its efforts toward becoming climate neutral by 2020. Meanwhile, Loyola University Chicago has begun several sustainability initiatives in the past few years, including its Institute for Environmnental Sustainability, construction of several LEED-Certified buildings, and banning of plastic water bottles on campus. In February, the University Senate voted 15 to 1 to pass a recommendation calling for divestment from fossil fuels within the next five years. University officials will now decide whether to move forward with the recommendation.
